Made 24 contoured burp cloths. Need to iron and add top stitching but otherwise they are done. Most will go to a co-worker having a baby boy. Her shower is this weekend.
And even used all the natural colored terry cloth. Made 8 bath mitts. They were actually fairly eary to make. Although I may make them a tad bit bigger next time. Fit my hand fine but if I wanted one of the guys to use them they would be a little small. 
Remember I have teenagers. Not a lot of use for burp cloths at my house. Do you see that precious little piggie peeking out on the left. I bought all they had of it (less than two yards). The reason you need to be quiet about my fabric is David called a few minutes ago. He has been in hot water with me all week. Said the kids were going to a movie with friends and did I want to grab a milk shake and go to the fabric store tonight.
He really wants to find LSU fabric for the special request apron, it is for one of the guys he works with. But I know I need to get a list together while he has his wallet open.
It may be too over jealous but I am thinking a table runner out of the hex flowers.
Trying to use up some of the fabric from the stash. Actually this was more of the craigslist fabric I got several months ago. I had made two aprons but one was already given away. And now I have a special request for a LSU apron. Quick way to use up yards of fabric.
20 plus bibs in progress. Actually half are now finished, added snaps yesterday. Did you know that if you are really organized you can find your accessories and will actually spend less money. I had a 50% off coupon and was going to buy myself a new snap/grommet pliers but I just knew I had one hid somewhere at the house. I resisted the temptation to buy a new one. Bought pinking sheers instead, knew I didn't own a pair of those. And in 5 minutes of searching found the pliers for snaps in a box at the house. Maybe it is spring cleaning time. Oh, I even found two 18" zippers while looking. More boxy pouches in the near future.
Started some hexagons out of scraps I had. Fun way to relive old projects. Plus I just love the flower look of these. The teflon hexs are working out great so far. I haven't been feeling well the past couple of days. Went to bed at 8:30 yesterday. Hopefully I will find some energy soon. 
We had nice spring weather last week and Buttercup took full advantage of it. Everytime someone walked by the back door she convinced them she needed to go outside. She loves the sunshine. Nothing more fun than rolling around in warm grass. I think she is finally putting a little bit of weight back on. She may be up to 6 pounds now.
Very productive weekend of sewing. Funny thing is I only remembered to take a photo of the project that I disliked. This bag is way too tiny for me or anyone else that I know. I purposely made it out of fabric that was not my taste that someone had given me. For some reason I knew before I started it that I wouldn't be happy with it. 
Teflon hexagons. Baste around the fabric, tighten around the hexagon and iron. Teflon won't melt. Use the pokey thing to remove the fabric. Comes with 25 Teflon hex's. I think I could baste in front of the television and actually spend time with the family.
Used my 40% off coupon so cost me $6. We might have a winner here. I will have to let you know. I like hand sewing so we will see how this works out. I may learn to despise hand sewing. I did see a project someone did with hexs. It was a mug mat (coaster). I may be able to make one that size without getting bored. 
I am not a fan of skull and cross bones and believe it or not I am not really a fan of rainbows. But these are two of Kim's favorite things so I made a test bag from a pleated bag pattern I found online. I really like the pattern and style. NOT a fan of the fabric. I was actually calling it hideous to Kim, rainbows on the inside were just too much. Note that it is all packed and ready to go to school when the photo was taken. And can you see the portfolio I made the other day packed inside. The one I was going to take a pair of scissor to in a hope of reclaiming the fabric. Well she has totally claimed that also.
Which has prompted me to make her a pin cushion of her own. They still need buttons sewn in the middle but I did get three of them completed. Great way to use up those little scraps of fabric. I actually fished some scraps out of the trash to make these.
Threw together a couple of key chains. I had found jeweled D rings on clearance. Added a nice touch to the key rings.
Used some more fabric from the stash to create this tote bag. Getting a bit tired of tote bags. Found a free pattern for a pleated bag so I think I will try that next. Bought some coordinating fabric to use more from my stash. Does that even make sense? I had to buy fabric to use fabric. I didn't have anything that would coordinate with the patriotic fabrics (see behind the key rings above) from my craigs list purchase. Bought 2 1/2 yards but will be able to take the stash down by the same amount. 
The portfolio looks better in a photo than it does in person.
I think I am going to destruct it and make something else. This is one of those things I should have followed a pattern.
Boxes turned out OK. I won't destruct them but I wouldn't give them to anyone either. Think I just need to try this one again with lessons learned.
More boxy pouches from left over fabric. These sure are super easy to make. And a couple key chains from the scraps.
This is from the fat quarters I bought at Joanns when the first opened. Finally used it all. Now I can buy more, Right?
Speaking of buying fabric. I picked up a 1/2 yard of each of these before Mason and I went to the movies on Friday. As you can see from the other projects I got a lot of mileage out of the fabrics. Down to scraps now. But I do have a project planned. 
A couple more pouches. My mom had sent me some zippers a couple of months ago. I finally put them to good use. The little one I added a tab to hang on to while zipping the pouch. The larger one is made from the brown fabric left over from Kim's shirt she made. Nice to make a few more without buying any supplies.
The little boxy pouch is done. It was a 7 inch zipper that someone sent to me in a swap. Cute size to throw in a diaper bag to hold little items that would get lost. Kim finished sewing a top for herself yesterday. She gave me the extra fabric and wants a boxy pouch made from it. Mason and I have lunch and movie plans today. I will try to pick up a few more zippers on the way home.
But that is as far as I got. Too much running around getting another rental vehicle and grocery shopping.
Hmm... Recipe for broccoli cheese rice casserole. From my sister, from our Aunt Ann. The ladies in Payroll are mad at me because I left it there in the crockpot and told them they couldn't eat it. Thanks for the recipe if it tastes as good as it smells we have a winner.
Worked out perfectly for a bigger Boxy Pouch. It would make a nice travel size bag for toiletries. Instead of the 8x6 pieces of fabric with the 9 inch zipper. I used 2 pieces of fabric 12x10 inches. I have a little 6 inch pale green zipper that was also sent to me. Hopefully tonight it will find a little boxy pouch of its own. So far I have used all scrap fabric and bought nothing to make these little pouches. The fusible fleece onces are so much nicer. But the plain fabric ones fit nicely into a standard envelop, and I don't think they will require any additional postage. A couple of them are going in the mail today.
I got my car back yesterday after almost a month of trying to get it repaired from the tire accident. And I get to take it back to them today. The low tire pressure sensor isn't working correctly. I assume it will take them a few more days to fix it. ARGH!!! I miss driving my car.
I added the fusible fleece to the two pieces before I sewed it together. It gave the bag some sturdiness and stability it didn't have before. I have finally used up my 9 inch zippers that were laying around. I have a couple other sizes I may modify the pattern to make them different sizes.
They are a little flimsy since they are not lined. I think I will try some fusible fleece on the fabric to give them stability and weight. Kim had an eye on them this morning. They are just the right size for her digital camera. I would guess I am losing one this afternoon. Great project to use up some of those zippers and smaller pieces of fabric you have laying around the sewing room. 
Mason knew it was platypus so I must have done something right. They are not stuffed yet. I need to do little bit of shopping today, not sure how much more I will get done.
He is into everything...
Maybe just the thought of us playing a practical joke is joke enough for both of them. Sure will keep them on their toes today.
Too much work going on this week and not enough play time.
