Not Bad

The curved pieces are not as bad as I was making them. 10 seams down another 2.3 trillion to go.

Time for a lunch break.

On a Roll

Another project that has been sitting here a couple of months waiting to be sewn.

Old turtleneck and polo with some bias tape from Mom's stash. Reused the existing hems and saved myself some time.

Another repurpose

Another one of Mason's old polos repurposed into a baby onesie. Bias tape from my Mom's stash.

I had cut this out months ago so it was nice to get it off the sewing table. The guys are on Dragonball Z DVD marathon again today. So I am enjoying the excuse to sew.

The MRI on David's back showed a bulging disc. Luckily no need for surgery. However we did order him an inversion table today. Now that should be quite entertaining.

Final 2

Picked up the final two fabrics for the double wedding ring quilt.

Have a long weekend to continue working on it. Yeah!! And Joann's has thread 50% off right now if you need any.

Progress

If my count is right the double wedding ring quilt will have 2,534 pieces.

I still have about 350 more to cut, have to find the right fabric first. Guess I should have done that before I got this far but what is the fun in that.

Sunshine

I found fabric for the big field pieces of the double wedding ring quilt. It is in the washer right now. I thought I found fabric for the ends of the arcs. Got home and it just didn't work for me. Two more fabric ships are on the agenda for Friday. Guess I should take a couple arcs with me so I don't buy more unneeded fabric.

While enjoying the sunshine in my seeing room I Whipped up a couple water bottle holders out of repurposed pants my mother sent me. Hah, now I can send them back to her.

And I played with the apple core template I bought with some of my Christmas gift card money. I need lots of practice with those curves before I try a bigger version.

Now to get outside and enjoy the sunshine and 60 degree weather.

322

322 arcs are seen and pressed. Still looking for the right fabric for the background. Will run out later today to check another fabric shop.

And look at that fabulous sunlight coming in my windows today.

Keeping Count

If you are keeping count with me... That would be 284 arcs sewn.

Most if them are pressed.

142 and Counting

142, some ironed some not.

Guys just got home. Time for a break.

Long Way

I have a long way to go on the double wedding ring quilt. 73 of 332 arcs are done.

David and Mason went to a movie I had better make good use of my free time.

Messenger Bag

Mason's old cargo shorts have been repurposed into a messenger bag.

A pocket on the back.

Another on on the front.

Some old navy duck cloth from my Mom's stash for the interior. The divider is from a leg of an old pair of my Mom's pants she sent me. And more of the cargo shorts for some inside pockets.

An old tshirt of Mason's for the flap. It has a layer of fusible fleece in the middle to give it some stability.

Just need to find some hardware to repurpose for the strap.

Hope the tshirt doesn't offend anyone. I thought it was too funny not to use and it fits the personality of the person that is getting the bag.

Better Way

I am sure there was a better way to make and finish the pocket but it is done.

21 Flavors

Blisters on my fingers and my back needs a break but the 21 fabrics for the rings of the double wedding ring quilt are cut.

David and Mason went to see a movie and finish their Christmas shopping. Think I will enjoy the quiet house the rest of the afternoon.

Well sometimes it pays to follow my blog. It was Anne's follower comment that won her the Puffy Quilt.

Sleeves

I am not thrilled with the detail on the sleeves. I couldn't find any more of the pink fabric so I had to use what I had.

Now just to finish the left handed pocket and I can mail it. The left handed pocket should be a clue where the sweatshirts are getting sent.

A pile of clothes to be repurposed into something more useful. Stay tuned for progress on that project.

Cutting

I am so glad I bought the templates. There is no way I could do this all by hand.

6 of 21 colors cut. Glad I have until June to get this done.

Inside Corners

Got a little work to do perfecting the inside corners if the binding but otherwise very happy with the results.

It makes a nice wall hanging or table runner. Now to start cutting the real pieces for the real quilt.

Sewing day

Well it's all sewn together.

It really wasn't as bad as I thought. Takes some thought and concentration. Now to quilt and bind it. Then start on cutting the thousands of pieces for the wedding quilt.

Seamless Arc

I decided to do a seamless arc for the test quilt. All of the melon/footballs are sewn.

Need to run get more thread to sew them to the centers. 3 rings didn't seem too bad. I need to make 72 rings for the actual wedding quilt. Yikes. I had better get busy. Glad I have until June.

Fabrics

After two days of rain the snow really reflects the light into my room.

And I found some t fabrics in my stash to make the test quilt.

Dusting?

No not housework dusting...

Weatherman said a light dusting of snow lasting about an hour. Think he got it wrong. Been snowing over 3 hours. Good news this is west Tennessee and it will probably be gone by noon.

Peewee Pjs

This is the pattern in the Sew It All magazine that I wanted to try.

I have a stack of Mason's old polos to repurpose. Pretty quick using the hem of the shirt for the hem of the pants. Switching to 3 threads in the serger and using wooly nylon thread in the upper and lower loopers give the seams a great stretch. Wish I had tried that earlier.
Snowing this morning. Good day to start the test double wedding ring quilt.

Minutes to Spare

I finished the puffy biscuit quilt with about 15 minutes to spare.

It is approximately 30 x 36 inches. 120 individual 3 inch puffs. I lost count but it is somewhere around 32 different fabrics.

Cotton, flannel, fleece, minky, fake fur, chenille, sequins, textured fleece, terry cloth, I am sure I am forgetting something else.

My decision has been made I am going to give it away during Sew Mama Sew giveaway day next week. The decision was pretty easy, it is so darn stinking cute I want to keep it. Which is exactly why I need to give it away.

My double wedding ring templates arrived this afternoon. I think I am going to make a three ring table runner to test them before I start cutting into the actual quilt fabric.

- Posted using BlogPress from my iPhone

Second opinion.

If you wanted me to change anything about the quilt don't tell me. I have already sewn half of them together.

Mason is home from school early today. Finals start later in the week and a couple professors have canceled classes. I asked him what he thought about the quilt... his opinion... Interesting. Not sure if that is good or bad. Then he proceeded to poke at every biscuit trying to pop them like bubble wrap. Silly boy.

Sew Mama Sew has another giveaway day next week. Do you think I should give away the puffy quilt?
- Posted using BlogPress from my iPhone

Opinions?

Was I right to pull these out of the quilt?

They didn't seem pink enough for me.

Here are the final 120 biscuits. Should I change anything before I start sewing them together?

Lazy Sunday

I had one lazy Sunday. Besides watching a whole season of Teen Mom 2 I did get a little grocery shipping done.

And look what I found in the check out line. Pretty neat magazine. Only their third issue. And there is one project calling my name that I am trying to ignore. Hate that crazy voice that tries to distract me.

Double wedding ring templates should arrive today. Gotta finish the puffy biscuit quilt before then. And maybe The project from the magazine. Wish me luck.

Can't count

Obviously I can't count very well.

Half of the biscuits are stuffed and sewn.

The other half have three sides sewn and ready to be stuffed.

Unfortunately I had some left over backing pieces. My count was off by 10. Need to pick through my fabrics and find more pinks.

Biscuits

I have wanted to make a biscuit/puffy quilt for quite some time.

1 done, 119 to go. Keeping myself entertained until the wedding ring omnigrid templates arrive.

Sweating It

These were originally crew neck sweatshirts. A little scissor action and seeing and they become cardigans.

I need to buy another 1/2 yard of pink fabric to finish the sleeves and add a pocket.

The burgundy one is finished. Hopefully these prototypes will be sent next week.
