Final Product

It is too cute to be called a Frankenstein shirt anymore.

The bottom of the two shorts combined. Elastic at the waist and top.

It is hard to see the colors but there are pink flowers that match the bottom perfectly.

Refashioned

Old tshirt from my mother that has seen better days.

Cut down the front and cut off the collar.

Add some binding tape.

And a cute dotted trim.

Now a nice summer weight, short sleeve cardigan.

The only question is should I add dotted trim around the sleeves or leave it as is?

The Ns

The quilt is labeled, tote bag made and even made a card.

I found a package of rub ons I bought years ago. Good way to use up all the Ns.

The Winner Is...

Random.org provided the number for the winning comment. The winner of the Sew Mama Sew Giveaway is:

Garilyn
"My husband performed the ceremony for a friend in an old theater and their dog was the ring bearer!"

Garilyn I have sent you an email. I need your mailing address.

Funny thing is my nephew would love to have his dog as the ring bearer. Not sure it would go over well with the bride and everyone else.

Hopefully my weekend is full of getting some projects knocked off my list. Number one being the binding for the double wedding ring quilt. Good news is I probably only nee another hour or so to finish it.

Spoiler Alert

If you are going to the wedding don't look.

The rest of you are free to peek.

Slow Down?

Hopefully you are reading this because you slowed down to enjoy the blogs for the Sew Mama Sew Giveaway?

Just leave a comment of any kind on this post for an additional chance to win the bag I am giving away. And I have added a smaller coordinating bag to the giveaway.

Of course no word from the long arm quilter. But the yard is mowed so I have the rest of the week to sew the binding.

Sew Mama Sew Giveaway

Sew Mama Sew Giveaway time again. My nephew is getting married in 19 days. My sister is starting to stress out a bit. So leave a comment about something funny that happened at a wedding, a special wedding tradition your family has or give my sister some advice to survive the next couple of weeks.
The bag is a light weight courdory stipple quilted with a pink polkadot fabric on the inside. I didn't finish it until late last night, more photos later today.

Post your comment before 5pm PST on the 25th, I will randomly draw one winner on Saturday the 26th from all the comments. Yes I will ship internationally. Just remember to slow it down and enjoy the blogs, you have all week to take in the creativity.

And check back tomorrow... hopefully I will have the double wedding ring quilt back from the long arm quilter.

Sunday Sewing

It has been a while since I have sewn rice packs.

I sew a few channels in muslin, fill with white rice and then put into fabric covers. I microwave for about 2 minutes or put in the freezer for an hour, just depends if I need a hot or cold pack.

Then a quick redesign to turn an old logo sweatshirt into something more wearable for my mother.

Cut off the collar and right down the front.

Covered up the old logo with a sweet strawberry appliqué and add a binding on the raw edge. Still using up that green gingham.

Binding all ready for my nephews double wedding ring quilt. Long arm quilter says I should have it back tomorrow. Finally.

And don't forget tomorrow starts Sew Mama Sews giveaway day. I made something special to give away.

Sew Mama Sew Giveaway Day

Hard to believe another Sew Mama Sew Giveaway Day is on the horizon. If you have never participated, I highly recommend it. I personally think having a giveaway is just as much fun as browsing through all the awesome blogs. The creativity on the blogs will inspire you but giving something away will warm your heart.

So start thinking now what you would give away. It starts Monday, May 21st. Hmmm... Now what do I want to give away?? Something from my stash or make something special?

Backside

Finally decided to do something with the dresden plate I made.

Funny thing is I think I like the backside better.

I had been looking for a place to use the DNA fabric. I actually like it.

Note the clean table. I don't think it has been empty since the day I moved in.

Snickers Bar Salad

One of the guys at work had some of this with his lunch today. I might just have to try it.

SNICKERS® BAR SALAD

1 lg. instant vanilla pudding
8 to 12 oz. Cool whip
4 to 5 SNICKERS® bars
5 to 6 diced apples
3 to 4 sliced bananas
Use 1 1/2 cups milk to pudding and mix until creamy. Add Cool Whip. Add SNICKERS® (cut in pieces). Add fruit to mixture. Serves 8-12.

Applecore

The yard is mowed. And the applecore mini topper I made months ago resurfaced to be quilted and bound.

I am trying not to start any big projects. I hope to get back the double wedding ring quilt from the long arm quilter soon.

Straight Lines

Cafe curtains in the kitchen, just high enough I can't be seen by my neighbors but I still get good light.

I originally did light quilting on the table runner.

Then went back to do heavier quilting on it.

I like the end result much better now.

Nice to sew straight lines after all the curves on the double wedding ring quilt.

The rain is gone for a few days. Guess the lawn should actually get mowed tonight.

More Fun

Two layers of light blue, two more of white and one layer of brown flannel on top of a kid print cotton fabric.

Sew diagonal lines for a hour.

Cut the top four layers of flannel with a chenille maker.

Bind it and throw it in the wash.

Much more fun than mowing the lawn.
