I'm Back

Six nights away from home and family is just too much for me. I did get a lot of reading and relaxation in but really missed the comforts of home. I was able to finish the table runner when I got home. Should have it boxed up and shipped out tonight. Hopefully I can finish the last few Christmas presents soon. If you click on the photo you may be able to see the leaf quilting I did. It shows up on some squares better than others.

WIP and Under the Weather

My works in progress are still in progress. I was feeling a bit under the weather over the weekend. Running a little temp on Sunday and can feel my ears and cheeks getting hot again today. If it wasn't payroll day I would be at home.

I was able to lay out the citrus quilt and get it ready for quilting. However I really need to buy a couple new spools of orange thread before I start. It is laying neatly over the back of a chair taunting me to start quilting it.

I got these all cut, just need to sew them when I feel like I have some energy.

And with the left over I did take a moment to sew up this tissue holder.
Love the ricrac Mom. It covered up the horrible thread tension on the new sewing machine.

Fabric Choices

Too many decisions...
I think I am going to use the green to back the butterflies and stripes. And then use the orange to back the citrus colors. And then use the opposite color for the binding on each of the quilts. Hard to believe it is the middle of November with all these bright pretty colors.

Spring Colors

Hard to believe it is fall with all these bright cheery spring time colors.
The disappearing nine patch in the fabulous citrus colors is done. Well it actually needs a little more fabric for the edge and then it can be quilted. Then I started on these gorgeous spring colors. I have 12 nine patches done. Hopefully I can cut them and make them disappear during the week. I wasn't sure how I would like a large scale print but it seems to be working.

Dogs and Cat Quilt Plus Dog

I finished the dog and cat quilt over the weekend. Even had a chance to get the binding put on. Someone decided if it was a dog and cat quilt it must have a real dog in the photo. Normally Buttercup doesn't get in my way when I try to take photos but she really thought this was all about her.

Disappearing Nine Patch

It starts with a nine patch.

Cut into fourths, two of the pieces turned 180 degrees and comes out like this. It was actually simplier than I thought it would be.

I finished 12 nine patches last night. And from that have finished 4 of the disappearing. Hopefully I can cut and finish the other 8 disappearing tonight. Wow that is pretty simple.

Christmas Already

I feel like I am back in my old Stampin' Up! days. By the time a holiday rolls around I have already had my fill of it and have moved on. So today is Halloween and this is what I am working on. This is an old fabric panel I have had that I am turning into a Christmas table runner.

Calling My Name

I was interrupted mid stitch by Mason needing something for school and Kim wanting to know what was for dinner. I haven't had a moment to touch the cat and dog quilt since I left it like this on Tuesday evening. It has been calling my name ever since. Hopefully I can get the quilt top done over the weekend. I don't plan on getting it quilted, just the top completed.

Too Many Choices

Mason worked at the library last night. So instead of going home I ran errands and did a bit of shopping before picking him up. I broke down and bought a quilting magazine to read while waiting on him. My problem is I am not even finished with the cats and dogs and I want to start a new project. Thre are just too many choice for me to decide. Can you tell I like bright colors?

Cats and Dogs Everywhere

During the week I don't get much time to do anything except work, make dinner, help with homework, chauffeur kids, relax for about an hour and go to bed. I have been trying to work in 10-20 minutes a night of crafting just to unwind from the day.
So little by little I am working on the cats and dogs. I think the nine blocks in progress now will make it large enough for a nice size lap quilt.
And the new iron is fabulous. I guess every 20 years or so we should buy new applicances just for the new features. What else have I have I been hanging on to that really needs to be replace?

Raining Dogs and Cats

It looks like it is going to be raining dogs and cats for a little while as I work on this quilt. I was able to find more of the dark brown fabric for the border so can sew another 9 squares before adding the rest of the colored fabric. So far I am still loving the colors. Although I may be sick of it in a week or two before this is completed.

Up In Flames

Sunday was our 23rd wedding anniversay. Which we actually celebrated on Saturday. David left early Sunday to drive to Murfreesboro for work. As soon as he left I started sewing on the cat and dog quilt. While ironing on the quilt blocks my iron went up in flames. Luckily I had enough sense to unplug it and blow out the flames. Only minor damage to the quilt blocks I was working on which I was able to trim off. I wonder if it is a sign that my 23 year old iron goes up in flames on our 23rd anniversary

I really like the color combination of the cats and dogs. I am probably about 50% done with the quilt top. Still need to add some touches to it and pick up an other yard of the brown polka dot fabric.

Pigtails and Snails - Quilt Giveaway

Click on the link to the right to see the fabulous quilt that Elizabeth Cranmer is giving away. What great quilting inspiration.

Fabric That Makes Me Smile

I found this fabric at lunchtime today. I am thinking about fussy cutting the cats and dogs. I want to add a deeper pink/coral color and two shades of brown to the fabrics before decide exactly what I want to do with it. But the plan is to make a lap size quilt.

Guess I need to finish a couple other projects before I get too involved in this one. Some fabrics just make me smile this is one of them.

Val's Table Runner Day Two

My car has been in the shop for the last week and I finally got it back yesterday. It was pouring rain so I went home instead of fighting the flooding rain to get back to the office. Which gave me a couple extra hours at the house yesterday afternoon that I wouldn't normally have. I made quite a bit of progress on Val's table runner. Got all the 9 patches sewn and the majority of them squared up.
Mason has a big project for science class due tomorrow I have a sneaky suspicion that I will be helping with that and not sewing any tonight.

Val's Table Runner Day 1

Val's birthday is next week. My goal is to make her a table runner and actually get it to her before her birthday. The plan is for it to be a nine patch around 50 something inches long. I had a little time last night to cut out the strips and sew a few together. If I can make a little progress throughout the week I should be able to finish it over the weekend. Work really does get in the way of crafting. Although I probably couldn't afford craft projects if I didn't work. Somewhere there should be a happy medium but I haven't found it yet.
