Weekend sewing

Felt good to get back in front of the sewing machine.

Orange and black bags are from a patterns out of a quilt magazines. Nice to use up some fabric from my stash and a few yards of flat lace. Zebra print is a wine bottle tote. The tutorial can be found here. http://www.needleandspatula.com/2011/01/quilted-wine-tote-sewing-tutorial.html?m=1
I see a few more of those in the future.

And two matching table runners. Need to quilt them this week.

Guild

I went to the local quilt meeting last night. I had an unexpectedly good time. The guest speaker was Jill Mead, the editor of Quilts and More magazine.

Jill gave all if us a couple of magazines and I had to buy three of her patterns while I was there. The pattern photos have a very 1980's look to them but her stuffed looked fabulous on the guild members that modeled them.

I was so impressed with the level of talent in the room. It might be a long while before I take something for show and tell.

Yee-haw

Dropped off the double wedding quilt top at the long arm quilters place. You will be happy to know I didn't go with the cheapest option. For some reason I feel more comfortable with this long arm.

Now I am hunting though my fabrics looking for the next project. I am thinking about another cowpoke quilt. Yee-haw.

Spring

A definite sign of spring.

And to my sister... Take a shovel and clippers when you go to dig the lilacs up.

Changes

Changed the purple to a darker color. It looks less "Easter egg" now.

Increased the size of the lettering and put into the corner. I like them much better now.

Embroidering

The photo is dark. Not the best lights in this house.

Nice to have the embroidery machine set up once again.

Drum Roll

The quilt top is finished. 2534 little pieces.

Now I have to make a decision. Hand quilt or turn it over to a long arm quilter. Need a find a long arm quilter and get a quite by the end of the week.

It actually looks pretty nice on my new bed. Hmmm. I could always just give cash as a wedding gift.

Half

Half of the double wedding ring quilt is sewn together.

Feels good to finally make some significant progress.

I still need to sew all the connecting corners. But I am seeing and end in sight.

It looks huge. I laid it out on my queen bed and it is just right.

Ready, Set, Sew...

Almost unpacked. Things are out of boxes but not organized in the slightest.

Sewing machine us plugged in and threaded. Got to make some progress on the double wedding ring quilt.

Going to talk to local quilt shop this weekend. Need to know what my deadline is to turn it over to a long arm quilter to get back by the wedding.

Ready, set, sew....
