Do you have a stand mixer? What do you like about it and what do you dislike about it? Any advice for buying one?
I am seriously thinking about letting my husband buy me one for Christmas. I have a no appliances rule for holidays but I might make an exception for the right mixer.
Of course he is looking at nothing but wattage. I am looking at the pretty colors. Is there any other way of buying an appliance? If you know me I am totally not looking at just the color, even though it will have to be red. Strong enough to mix bread dough and whip up a cake or two. And one with the meat grinder and pasta attachments would be the bomb.
I love my KitchenAid stand mixer. I've had it forever and use it often. I make pizza dough, bread, cakes, cookies, etc. It's one of the only appliances allowed to stay out on the counter. Actually, it has its own counter. That's how much I love that thing. Mine is boring white, but they make really cool colors now.
ReplyDeleteI'll weigh in on the opposite side. I HATE stand mixers passionately. They don't give me enough control over the mixing process and I find they tend to make more dense batter (and other issues).
ReplyDeletePlus, you know, hand mixers are a good workout.
But yeah, we got rid of our stand mixer. Just not our favorite appliance.
I love, love, love my red KitchenAid Artisan mixer. I have the meat grinder attachment and we use it pretty often (extra lean sirloin ground with strips of bacon makes awesome burgers!) The dough hook works like a charm as does the whisk attachment. I love everything about it!!
